Autograph letter signed from Paul Spencer, Glasgow, to Mr. Pierce Egan, Dublin [manuscript], 1840 March 17.

Written on the back of an illustration depicting a statue of the manager of the Theatre Royal [John Henry Alexander] being hoisted up to the top of the Theatre's facade and onto the level of statues of Shakespeare and Garrick, while a jeering mob watches on. The letter presents the caricature within, explaining that it illustrates their manager's impertinence in including himself among such theatrical luminaries.
